Canine Campovers, LLC is currently interviewing candidates for several new long-term, P/T positions
in Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins and points between. Retired doglovers welcome..
We have been state-licensed and insured since 1998, boarding carefully screened dogs while their humans travel.
****We will contact you to discuss a possible application and interview if ALL of the following criteria fit you & your household. We only seek long-term Caregivers. Please be patient with our very thorough process. Imagine yourself as a client, wanting to know how incredibly carefully we screen and choose Caregivers. Call us if........
You are a dedicated and lifelong doglover who understands behavior, in a stable household of doglovers.
You have no small children at home and no rotating housemates. ALL members of the household must be involved from the start.
You’re at home much of the day, living within an hour drive of Boulder or Lyons. You have the time, willingness and physical ability to play with and walk the one or two dogs you board, in all seasons and all weather.
You are oriented to positive reinforcement of behavior with your own pets already and can set boundaries in this way.
All pets of your own are long-term household members (sorry, no foster dogs for safety's sake). They are all well-socialized with people and other dogs, spayed or neutered and are kept up on basic vaccinations. Your own dog-friendly cats work out well in some Caregiver homes. If you have a cat that runs in fear from or is aggressive toward dogs, that won't work for us. Re. fearful cats, running brings out the chase instinct in many otherwise cat-respecting dogs.
There is no free-feeding of your own dogs or you are willing to change that, as our Camp dogs cannot be in a home with food left out on the floor. Water bowls need to be stand-alone too, with no bottle-fed bowls in use in the house. They are virtual petri dishes for bacteria, viruses and parasites. We assure our clients that dogs will be totally segregated at feeding time. Also, we do not allow rawhide chews in our homes. Every veterinarian can tell stories of dogs choking and getting intestinal blockages from them.
You are safety and detail-oriented and it shows.
You like people. You can provide exceptional personal and work references as well as great references from your own pets' veterinarian. We check these thoroughly.
You will pass a nation-wide background check.
You enjoy learning and are open to feedback as a true pet care professional.
You have another reliable income source. Caregiving with Canine Campovers can provide supplemental income, but it varies a great deal with the season. It also varies greatly with how long you have been with us and your availability.

ALSO, REGARDING. YOUR HOUSEHOLD AND PROPERTY :
You own your home or can get the landlord's explicit written permission to be boarding one or two dogs at a time.
Your household is entirely non-smoking indoors.
Your home is well-kept and located in a well-kept neighborhood.
You have a strongly-fenced yard with a minimum height of 4' at every point OR you are willing to raise it. Gates and door latches are secure or you are willing to upgrade them. Lawn care in doggie areas needs to be organic--no weed-n-feed/herbicides/pesticides on the property, for safety, and no shared yards.
There are no chemical sanitizing inserts in your toilets or you are willing to permanently remove them.
Kitchen and all bathroom trash cans are behind closed, baby-latched doors or will be replaced with metal step-lid cans that are dog-proof. Dental floss, tampons, greasy plastic, foil and chicken bones are but a few potentially deadly items in trash cans. Drawers and cabinets below counter height that contain food, vitamins, toiletries or any medicines need to have baby latches on them for safety. This is an easy task..
You have reasonable neighbors on all sides and no history of complaints to animal control or police about your household or pets.
You have reliable voice mail or call waiting on your phone, as well as a computer with email and a printer. You must be able to receive incoming calls while connected to the Internet, so clients will never get a busy signal. You'll also need a fax machine, which can be gotten used on Craigslist for as little as $20, or be able to scan and fax legal size documents from your computer.
You can realistically see yourself doing this for a long time and enjoying the long-term relationships with steady clients. We have no positions for seasonal, weekend-only or between-jobs Caregivers. There is licensing involved, which is a small part of the process, but a necessary level of commitment. __________________________________________________________________________
